BLUES BLOG

Welcome to the official 'Pete Gavin shAnghAi Blues gAng' web log. This Blog relates stories and comments on the music and blues scene here in Germany as seen through the eyes of this band.

The Music Heroes

Firstly we would like to introduce ourselves.

Bluesman (B) is none other than the name giver of this website - Pete Gavin.

Talkman (T) plays bass and talks the talk, the one and only Pick Stevens aus Shanghai.

This combination forms the infamous 'shAnghAi blues gAng' (light).
For the past year we have the pleasure of playing with Thilo Brandt (19) on the drums. We are no longer playing with Thilo Brandt (19) instead we have Thilo Brandt (20) wielding the brushes and sticks (next year it is rumoured Thilo Brandt (21) will take his place).

The collective entity is the much travelled, much loved and often too loud 'Pete Gavin & shAnghAi blues gAng' (SBG).

Another SBG hero was the car (C). According to our garage, this car should have run forever. After half a million kilometers and a change in german emmission laws C, which was on it's third gearbox (Getrieb), third ignition lock (Zuendschloss) and fourth CD changer, was sent out to pasture in Africa, where it is messing with giraffes and lions! The newest transport system involves a rusty old trailer, reputably used by a famous ossi (east german) band. The disadvantage of this system is that the numberplate with the registry details keeps getting nicked. The third one has now been fused to the chassis - try that for size you thieving bastards.
A recent addition to the travel scene is my new old bus.
The main thing is we make the gig with the gear.
